Types of web page design

Did you know there are more than one type of web page? All web pages have their own purpose and function and it’s important to realise this when designing and developing your web site to ensure you get the right outcome.

  • Home Page - Your home page is a very important page to your website. Believe it or not, it needs to SUCK! By this we don’t mean it needs to be really bad, what it needs to do is “suck” the viewer in deeper. There are many aspects surrounding a good home page design. It needs WOW factor, it needs to position you correctly, it needs to summarise your product and service offering, it needs to build hype and credibility and it needs to make it easy for people to communicate with you.

  • Transitional Page - A transitional page is exactly that. It is a page that is there as a stepping board to other areas or pages within your site. It is used to help flow and navigation around your site. It should be clear and simple, making it easy for the viewer to get to what they are looking for.

  • Content Page - These pages are the informative pages. They are there to be read and help present the product or service information. They require good content and typography and most of all should be informative and easy to read.

  • Call to Action Page - All websites have a purpose... well they should have one. This page is about enticing the action you are looking for. Is it to initiate contact through a web form or maybe it’s to sell a product. Whatever it is, it needs to be designed in a way that is clear and easy to use and focus on them completing that required action.
